These are some really great tips if some one wants to target Chinese internet audience. I have been researching on search results of Baidu but at times I have only found one key phrase term on a landing page that has been ranked really well in the results. ( by looking at cached pages) Does baidu consider on site optimization factor like keyword density or keyword spread?

Yes it does. The major on page factors valued by most search engines are valued by Baidu as well. Spread the target keywords wisely on the web page is the way to do it.

Ok, I understand that now. So what do you recommend, is it a wise decision to go with Google translation to translate our content to Chinese or manual translation done by human translators? Do you think that Google simplified Chinese translation is good enough or will be appreciated within the Mainland China internet audience?

Using Google translate is never a good idea if you want to have your site translated into Simplified Chinese or any other languages. The translation usually doesn’t make sense. A proper translation from native translators is what you need. Not just that, if you want your website to rank well, it’s essential that you have somebody who speak your target language to do keyword research for you to figure out what keywords you should be targeting in your page content.
